Overseers and Deacons

In addition to our wonderful ministry staff and volunteers, ACF communities feature two leadership groups - our Overseers and Deacons.

ACF’s Overseers, also known as our Elders, serve as the church’s board of directors. Their primary role is to pray for the church and provide spiritual guidance. Overseers are appointed to provide global leadership to our congregation, enabling them to know, love and serve Jesus Christ well. They provide oversight and guidance in areas concerning doctrine, teaching, discipleship, church discipline, vision and direction, conflict resolution, caregiving and prayer. Overseers extend leadership into all ACF communities through Deacons ready to support their Community Pastor in prayer and by stepping into discipleship, caregiving and conflict resolution within the communities, as needed. Overseers generally meet weekly for prayer and once a month for formal church business, unless special meetings are called.

1 Timothy 3:1-7

As an extension of our Overseers’ leadership, the primary role of ACF Deacons is to provide assistance to the Community Pastor. These appointed men and women fill an important role in the ministry of ACF. Deacons minister to those who are in need, to the sick, to the friendless, and to any who may be in distress both within and beyond the community. ACF Deacons may also assist in weekend service leadership, baptism and communion, and in leading and training others to do the work of ministry at our communities.
